Atlético CP exists to bring joy to our fans. Our goal is to remain true to the extraordinary history and tradition of the Club and to strive for excellence in everything we do. We seek to be open and inclusive and to form a greater community which will join us on our journey.
HISTORY
Atlético Clube de Portugal played their first official soccer match in the first round of the Lisbon Championship in the 1942/43 season. Three years later, in 1945, the Estádio da Tapadinha was built, where the club's soccer team has played its games ever since. Throughout its history, Atlético Clube de Portugal has won several national titles in a wide variety of sports, including three 2nd Division Football National Championships in 1944/45, 1958/59 and 1967/68, having twice taken part in the final of the Portuguese Football Cup. Having won the Campeonato de Portugal in 2023, the club now compete in Liga 3.
TODAY
In 2024, Atlético Futebol SAD was created and Signature Football Holdings purchased the men's senior football team from the Club. SFH is led by Gifford Miller, President of Atlético Futebol SAD, and the SAD has committed the funds to invest in the entire futebol structure from the squad to the technical, scouting and medical departments. In addition, the SAD is committed to renovating the Tapadinha for a better fan experience and to ensure that the Tapadinha meets Liga 2 requirements. These planned improvements include a new stand for the East Side, new locker rooms, and bathrooms, as well as those already constructed such as Curva, our magnificent hospitality space, and the works of art that represent the partnership with MAAT.
Atlético CP also refers to the club that continues to manage the Youth Football Academy, the Futsal, and Basketball programs. Both the Club and the SAD are committed to working together to advance the interests of all of the activities at the Tapadinha.
